A rare commissioned lacquered screen or panelling originally the famous 1960s shop Biba originally started by Barbara Hulanicki with help of her husband Stephen Fitz-Simon. Hulanicki worked as a fashion illustrator after studying at Brighton Art College in the late 1950s. She married advertising executive Stephen Fitz-Simon and they soon opened a mail order clothing company that she named Biba's Postal Boutique. Biba was the nickname of her younger sister Biruta. The first store, in Abingdon Road in Kensington, was opened in September 1964. Each panel from left to right measures : H 91", W29.5", D 6". H 96", W 30 1/2", D 1". H 96", W 30 1/2", D 1". H 96", W 30 1/2", D 1". H 91", W29.5", D 6". Overall measurements are : Height 96", Width 150 1/2", Depth 1" in the centre three panels and 6" at each end.
