Collinson and Lock. A superb quality Rosewood chaise lounge in the Anglo-Japanese style, the design attributed to E W Godwin. See Susan Weber Soros. Page 106. Provenance :- This was owned by Major Charles Herbert Villiers-Stuart probably passed down to him from his father Captain William Villiers. C H Villiers fought in the North-West Frontier between 1897 and 1898. He fought in the Waziristan Campaign between 1901 and 1902 and in the First World War. He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 56th Punjabi Rifles Field Frontier Force and fought in the Gallipoli Campaign. Died in action on 17 May 1915 Gallipoli, Ottoman Empire. There is a rich history online when you search the Villiers-Stuart name. Height 29", Width 25" Length 67".
