Ernest Gimson. A rare pair of polished steel and brass Arts and Crafts fire dogs designed by Ernest Gimson and made by Alfred Bucknell. The upper florets are cast in brass and silver plated. An original drawing by Gimson of a pair of pierced brass andirons based on 17th Century examples at Haddon Hall in Derbyshire have the identical upper florets. They show Gimson's passion for using natural forms within his work, with leaves and flowering details. Height 25 1/2" Width of head 9" Width at feet 10 3/4", Length 23".
