John Moyr Smith for Mintons. A colourful set of eight 8" square tiles

A colourful set of eight 8" square tiles designed by Moyr Smith and made by Minton’s China works. Depicting scenes from the novels of Sir Walter Scott and suggested to be the best quality printing of all of the Moyr Smith designed tiles. Minton’s produced two sizes of the same designs. An 8" and a 6" version, the 8" was first introduced in 1875 and they were exhibited at the Paris Exhibition in 1878. The 6" version was introduced in 1882. Height 8", width 8".
