A W N Pugin. Gothic Revival Four Door Pitch Pine Wardrobe with Linenfold Panels

POA

A W N Pugin. Made by John Gregory Crace.

A rare Gothic Revival four-door pitch pine wardrobe with hand-carved fleur de ley finials flanked with castellated hand-carved details to the cornice, and a compilation of four dots below each finial. A 45-degree chamfered detail separating each door which runs down to the stile feet with carved rose florets beside the intricate decorative iron handles and hinges. The four doors have three decorative hinges to each and superbly carved full-length linenfold decorations to the top and bottom panels of each door. The doors open to reveal generous storage with a double hanging space to the right, and a single longer hanging space to the left-hand side, retaining the original brass hanging rails and a cupboard below. The central section with four linen slides and four large drawers below.

The pitch pine used to make this piece has been hand-chosen for its wonderful figuring to the grain with a wonderful warm soft finish. A beautiful period cavernous storage solution.
