E W Godwin for W Watt. An English Anglo-Japanese ebonized beech & cane armchair

POA

Edward William Godwin (1833-1886) for William Watt.

An ebonized beech and cane armchair. This is just so a delight to look at, a sculptural work of art with a good ergonomic design.

An identical armchair with an 'Heirloom' enamel label (William Watts representatives) applied under the seat. It was purchased by Tony Geering and Martin Wolfson from an auction by Warren and Wignall, Leyland approximately in 2014/15, now in a private collection.
