A stunning pure Arts and Crafts desk attributed to G.M.Ellwood and made by JS Henry with wonderful proportions and superb quality throughout. The fabulous stained glass panel depicting stylised flowers to the back with wonderful colour ways surmounted by an inlaid heart and inlaid line detail below, it has a slight bow to this upper frame work which is so subtle. A truly wonderful design detail that it is quite divine, this is flanked by to compartmented storage boxes with wonderful conforming stylised floral inlays to their tops with original green leather writing area below enclosed by side uprights with shaped details to the upper front and protruding angular details to the left and right writing area supported below with conforming brackets. The full width drawer with fantastic elongated stylised copper handles and escution all in one piece. The four legs with arches to each side changing from square into hexagonal from halfway and united by a H stretchers. A truly outstanding work of Art. Height 49", Depth 22", Width 39 1/2". Circa 1900.
