Howard and Sons, a simple Arts and Crafts oak breakfront library bookcase, with Queen Anne revivalist cornice above four astragal glazed doors, and four panel doors below opening to reveal compartment-ed storage areas to the upper parts, the whole stood on a shaped skirt base.

Howard and Sons exhibited at the great exhibition in 1851 and in exhibitions in America and at the Paris Exhibition in 1900 they won two gold medals and a silver. They had the royal warrant and were commissioned to produce 24 pieces for the royal collection and supplied a number of royal residences with pieces for their private collections.
