A rare and important set of Anglo-Japanese walnut wall shelves with ebonized and gilt painted Japanese Carp to the upper panel, finely carved stylized floral details to the doors with a shaped shelf and a mirror below with semi circular fretwork device to the base. See Art Furniture designed by Edward W. Godwin FSA and manufactured by William Watt 21 Grafton St. ‘Student Furniture’ Plate No4. Also illustrated in The Secular Furniture of E W Godwin by Susan Soros Plate No14 where there are a pair hung to the back wall. This set of Anglo-Japanese wall shelves maybe the only known set to have come onto the market
