Attributed to Henry William Batley, probably for Gillows of Lancaster. A large Aesthetic Movement ebonized walnut cabinet with fine finials and a fretwork gallery to the top, and an arched canopy below with vibrant inlaid floral decoration and a central inlaid vase. A bevelled mirror sits beneath, with inlaid florets at each corner, flanked by open displays with fretwork galleries and conforming fine finials above glazed cupboards.
The central section has an open work area with three bevelled mirrors to the back and three drawers below, above a stepped open display area with conforming cupboards. The four cupboard doors are decorated with framed inlays surrounding fine floral inlay, with stylised handles and hinges. The cabinet stands on slender turned legs.
