HW Klein, Bramin Scandinavian Extending Dining Table and Six Chairs with Carving

POA

HW Klein for Bramin. A extremely rare Scandinavian Modern, Danish extending teak dining table and six matching chairs with the original leather all in wonderful original above average condition.

This variation of the norm with subtle hand carved decoration I have not come across before, and would suggest it was sold in very few numbers or even possibly made for commission only. The subtle hand carved stylized decorations are to the upper legs and to the edge of the extending dining tabletop, with conforming carved detailing to the back rests and to the top of the front legs of the dining chairs which also have exposed decorative finger joint construction to the back rests at each side where they join the uprights.

The hand carving to all the pieces would have been very expensive to make at the time in comparison to the plain models we see a lot of around.

Designer Henry Walter (HW) Klein was born in 1919 in Norway. After serving in the Norwegian Navy his passion for cabinetmaking began. In 1949 he moved to Denmark and studied interior design at the Tekniske Skile in Frederikberg, where, he trained under the guidance of one of the greatest Danish designers and architects of all time, Finn Juhl . He finished his studies in 1952 and returned to Norway, where he founded his own interior and furniture company. His furniture designs were Classic post-war modern Danish style, super quality with perfect proportions and beautiful finishes.
