Charles Bevan (attributed), a Gothic Revival oak side chair, with rounded detail to the upper backrest rail flanked by shaped uprights with carved and ebonised zig-zag bands to the top, flanked by carved triangular details within the carved roundels, and a pierced lower back rest. The smart scissor and rounded style leg designs with through tenon details the ends with subtle carved decoration. Professionally re-upholstered in a quality tan leather. Circa 1875. £2800. This design has a similar feel to Charles Bevan’s registered reclining chair made under licence by Marsh, Jones and Cribb.
