E W Godwin for William Smee. An armchair

POA

armchair designed by E W Godwin. Made by Smee. See The Secular Furniture of E W Godwin by Susan Weber Soros page 131. This rather damaged armchair has a Smee label which would further prove that these chairs are infact designed by Godwin as we know he designed for James Peddle and this design was Patented by Peddle in 1881, therefore he could have possibly sold the same design to each company or Smee made them under licence to James Peddle. Circa 1881.
